Divinations of the Dolphins

When at last the dolphins speak,

swim to a hidden space

where they first learned how to design

The future —

they will find the snail and

the water have been poisoned,

Human contact can no longer

be preserved.

They will start again —

With unending compassion —

Say it a curse to erase the future

and a blessing to learn once

more, how to speak and to

learn from them.

The meaning we were meant

to learn.

We will be told to build a tower

to house the children,

shackle their hands and observe them

in chains, and release them

slowly to see

what will they do.
